01The context
Students For Liberty wanted to expand. Libertycon, its flagship event, had always taken place along the Rio–São Paulo axis, where audience and sponsorship already existed. Taking it to the Northeast was a real test of expansion: new territory, no built-in base, and a political culture that in many ways ran counter to the event's cause.
02The challenge
The first edition outside the Rio–São Paulo axis carried a double risk: a political stance at odds with local culture, and no audience or sponsorship base in the region. Without mobilization, the event would be born empty.
03What was at stake
Generate organic ticket demand in a territory with no prior base.
Adapt messaging and offer to the local political culture without diluting the cause.
Fund the event by raising resources from the region's business networks.
Establish the client as a national reference, not just a Southeast one.
04The approach
I tackled it from both sides: I built an ambassador program from scratch to create organic demand, and mobilized local business networks with tailored pitches to fund the event.
05How it was done
- 01
Reading the territory
Mapped the region's political and social landscape to adapt messaging, offer and fundraising approach to the local context.
- Diagnóstico de território
- Estratégia de discurso
- 02
Ambassador program
650+ Attendees mobilized
Created and trained a network of ambassadors who promoted the event through large-scale content and ticket sales.
- Recrutamento
- Treinamento
- Metas de venda
- 03
Business fundraising
R$ 300 mil+ Raised in the region
Built tailored pitches for each business owner, turning meetings into more than R$ 300k raised.
- Propostas sob medida
- Rodada de reuniões
- 04
Event execution
Coordinated teams and operations on the day, delivering an experience that gathered 650+ people.
- Operação do dia
- Gestão de equipes

Instead of importing an audience, we built one: a network of local ambassadors turned an unlikely cause into the region's biggest event.
06The impact
R$ 300 mil+
Raised through business networks
650+
Attendees in a region with no prior mobilization
Referência
Client established as a national liberal-political voice
What looked like a risk became a landmark. The event funded itself from within the region, filled up in a territory with no prior mobilization, and helped establish the client as a national voice, no longer confined to the Southeast.
07The takeaway
Expansion isn't copying what worked elsewhere: it's reading the territory and building a local base. It was the ambassador network, not the event's name, that filled the room.
